Geek Dinner 2.0

How Could You Pass This Up?
Originally uploaded by LisaPal.
Well, we did it again. Pictures are up. But without descriptions, for now. Loki was our host for this one and his goal was to be make as many crazy faces as possible whenever anyone took his photo. Alan was again the mad self-portrait snapper. Maitri couldn't make it, (she's cooling her heels in Canada) so I took enough shots to make up for what she would have contributed. (We missed you!) It was as hot as you'd expect it to be in the middle of August, but we had a great crowd and a great night. More about it to come when I'm in the write mood.

Others seen snapping photos (besides Loki and Alan) were Dangerblond and Dr. A, wife of the Mighty Adrastos, and perhaps others. As soon as they're posted, I'll link to but them.

UPDATE: Loki's photos are up.

Great pics, Lisa. Thanks. It looks like a blast. Excellent that there were so many spouses (SOs) as well as (someone called it - maybe Loki?) "blogger spawn". You guys are redefining "geek". :)

Loki is such a toon. He ha, however, solved the unflattering picture thing by mugging for the camera...

"...and Dr. A, wife of the Mighty Adrastos, and perhaps others." Jesus, how many husbands does she have?

I'm the one with the harem, DB. You were, for obscure reasons, demoted to GF #3 at the geek dinner. Lisa was promoted because she's as cute as a bug...

Oooh, Dangerblond! Ya got me!

Well, now that the word's out, Richard, my long-time internet husband, (according to his terrestrial wife) is going to file for virtual divorce. Please forgive me Richard! I still love you!

Thanks anyway, Adrastos, for clearing up my gaffe, even though you and I both know that I'm really just the token brunette girlfriend and moving me up to #2 arranges us girls like one of those Sunshine sandwich cookies with the chocolate in the middle.

Hard to say who was the seduced, and who was the seducer, from those photos with Alan you heart throb!

As always ours is an 'open' internet marriage, you know, free to be you and me.

And just as long as I get to find out the details of the 'sunshine sandwich.' Sounds like something that might melt in the NOLA heat.

hey lisa - thanks for posting pics.. reminds me of many such get togethers in nola of academics, artists, and other such colorful characters that make new orleans such a different place from the rest of the south.

i can feel the muggy heat coming from those pics, and it makes me appreciate the mild winter breeze here in auckland. i'll be just fine if i never have another NOLA summer. hope things are going well! - ej

Schroeder, who could not succumb to the seductive powers of Eros once he's plucked an arrow from his quiver and shot it at point-blank range? It was my turn. Last time it was Dangerblond's Who will be next? Only Eros knows.

And of course you know that when Eros picks a camera up, he becomes Narcissus. And Narcissus, in addition to being quite photogenic, is utterly amusing when he falls into rapturous self-portraiture with various guests. I should mention that, after the steamy shot of Eros and Loki on the Geek-mobile --a picture that had to be disqualified from the competition because of the unfair advantage its sizzle aforded it --the shot of you and Sally wins the prize for most viewed picture in the Geek Dinner 2.0 photoset.

By the way, I believe it may have been the attentions of Eros and the concerted efforts made by Adrastos that kept me from slitting my wrists that night.

Oh, Richard, I'm relieved that my assumption of openness in our internet marriage was not off-base. After all these years as a blog-couple(2+ in the blogosphere is what--something like 10 in terrestrial life, right?), I thought I was safe with that. And since you asked, the details of our Geek-Dinner Love Fest can be gleaned in their entirety simply by looking at the pictures. Really.

Now, for you, Eric... You are over there in New Zealand, living my (outlandish?) fantasy and that's all you're going to tell me??? I've been meaning to send you an e-mail and it was going to contain only one word...

Well??????

...mild winter breezes here in Aukland...

C'mon! I need more than that! Much more.

(Looking forward to hearing from you soon.)

Btw, Lisa, I'm contemplating promoting you to GF #1. You're the non-smoker in the group. Now that's sexy. Of course, Michelle has been #1 for quite some time...actually #2 after Dr. A.
